Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the historic Trade and Commerce Building is a place of welcome for all to experience education, enrichment, cultural activities, art, music, gardening, share talents and energy by collaborating in a community space.

The old Superior Trade and Commerce building, built in 1875-1899,was initially a commece building and eventually housed the Superior City Hall until the late 1960’s. It now houses the North End Arts Council, Red Mug Coffeehouse, Duluth Pottery, Sustenance Bread, Yoga Tree, Art in the Alley, Studio One Photography and several artists' studios.

Karin Kraemer, Dan Edmunds, Doug Fairchild and Erika Mock are just some of the professional artists that work in this big old sandstone building. Many local artists participate in group and solo shows in the North End Arts Gallery and the Red Mug Gallery.

Eight kilns are used for firing in Maiolica, stoneware, Salt and Soda firing, and Raku.
